Out story starts in the 1980s, when a humble pair of farmers, who went onto become merchants, decided to leave their home in Igueste de Candelaria, a small town in southern Tenerife, to move to Sant Cruz. It is there that they work on their dream with love and effort, a future project that would begin in the Salamanca neighbourhood of the capital of this island and would become a reality in 1983, the year when Kiko and Carmitas decided to open the doors of Los ÁNGELES, their new cafe.
1983 entailed a before and after not only for our family, but also for our archipelago. It would herald a period of change and prosperity for the city. On 30th May 1983, the Canary Islands parliament held its first session in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, an event with special relevance that would make that a very significant date. Each year, all the inhabitants of the Canary Islands proudly commemorate that day, the Day of the Canary Islands.
With time, care and dedication, their efforts bore fruit: they increased customer numbers and the business grew, offering a rigorous meal service under the name Restaurant Los Ángeles. They had learned from the best teachers, knew the operations from the inside and had plenty of enthusiasm and hope, the ingredients necessary to get things moving.
Experience and our desire to progress led us to launch a new venture in 2009 that would bear the name Mesón Los Ángeles. We also took another step, which involved innovating our menu. We renovated inside and outside, though always maintaining our essence and traditional taste.
Everyone—Jose Ángel, our loyal employees, our family friends and our loyal customers—have made Los Angeles what it is today: a space where you can enjoy the aromas, textures and flavours of our land. Your date with the best in Canarian and Mediterranean gastronomy.
We look forward to seeing you!
